ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM LANGLEY CASTLE, WITH THE MOON JUST BREAKING THROUGH THE CLOUDS AFTER SHELLEY AND STEPHEN'S WEDDING  - PHOTOGRAPH BY DIRK VAN DER WERFF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Sunday was a great day. A really great day for Shelley and Stephen's wedding at Langley Castle in Northumberland.
It seemed like they had both been waiting all their lives for each other, and their own speeches made everyone lucky enough to attend this great wedding celebration, told all about the love and affection they both held for each other, their special friends and relatives who travlled from as far as Australia for the wedding at Langley Castle.
I managed to create so many lovely images from the day's events, and soon enough I will post more from the tears and laughter and fun from the day.... but here's a sneak preview from the end of the day in and around the grounds at Langley Castle.
Shelley looked sensational in her hand-made Rosina Brown wedding dress, in beautiful gold and wine red colours and her beautiful 'Scottish Widows' cape looked perfect when we climbed the tower to take some photographs on top of Langley Castle.
It was a great wedding at Langley Castle - and I would be honoured to be considered for your wedding celebrations at this fantastic Northumberland Wedding Venue.

WEDDINGS AT DOXFORD HALL HOTEL AND SPA NEAR ALNWICK NORTHUMBERLAND

Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa is the 'baby' of Brian Burnie, a former Newcastle recruitment company boss, who has invested more than £14million into developing the Doxford Hall Country House Hotel at Chathill, near Alnwick
Mr Burnie, who lives with wife Shirley in the adjacent Doxford Hall, a John Dobson-designed mansion house which dates from the early 19th Century, won planning permission for his hotel scheme in 2000.
And ever since then, the low key project has been slowly progressing, with the specification so good Mr Burnie has nicknamed the hotel “Handmade Hall.”
The hotel has 25 rooms, each named after a Northumbrian castle and guests have access to a health club and a gourmet restaurant.
Mr Burnie wants the building to stand as his legacy – and to be part of the Northumbrian landscape as long as Doxford Hall has been.
He said: “Hopefully it will be around for a couple of hundred years. It will all be based on ‘God’s country’ – Northumberland. I want to be remembered by this magnificent building.
“This has been an ongoing project for quite a number of years. We will be leaving something for future generations. It’s very much a building of minute details – the sort of thing you can’t rush. For instance, all the gutters are lead lined.
“It’s definitely not ‘off the shelf’. We are thinking of nicknaming it ‘Handmade Hall’ as so much has been done that way.
This looks to be a brilliant new wedding venue for exclusivity or for the discerning bride or family wanting a wedding location a little bit different.
I would be honoured to be considered to be your wedding photographer at Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa - our wonderful A3 wedding books would make a great reminder of what would be a very special day!

I first met with Kerry at a Wedding Fair earlier this year, and despite the time-gap, I must have made a small impression as Kerry and fiancee Paul contacted me to come and see them at Tynemouth recently.
So, on a Sunday afternoon down on the beach at Crusoe's Coffee shop, we had a chat over a HUGE cup of coffee, talked about their upcoming wedding and I showed a few of the beautuful A3 San Francisco wedding books.
They're going to have a really chilled, family orientated wedding day, a lovely day that they both feel comfortable with in a lovely church with a wedding breakfast in an intimate restaurant and, later on, back down to the legendary Crusoe's for an evening on the beach......

LANGLEY CASTLE WEDDING INVITATIONS - THEY'RE A BIT WILD AND WACKY.....!

I'm so looking forward to covering Shelley and Stephen's wedding at Langley Castle this coming weekend ....

Shelley has been texting me all week saying: 'How exciting, it's snowing ....'.

She will be disappointed on the day however, as the long range seems to suggest it will be grey, overcast and raining ...

Hmmmm
. She also intends to drag me to the battlements at the top of the castle during the daylight with Stephen for some dramatic photographs too ....... I hope my insurance is up to date!!

They're such a fun couple and have all sorts of personal touches throughout the day and night to make sure this is such a memorable day - and, as they're both martial arts masters - how about this for a FANTASTIC wedding invitation card for their wedding at Langley Cas
tle ....?

SUNDERLAND PRE-WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PORTRAITS FOR SHELLEY AND STEVE

Last week I spent some time with Shelley and Steve whose wedding at Langley Castle is in December - one I'm very much looking forward to.

Roker beach at Sunderland has a has a great siginificance for Shelley as she often came here with her father when younger and now brings her own children here too, to walk along the beach and touch the pier before walking back - just as she did with her father all those years ago.

So, we spent an hour or so walking a beach on a crisp and cold day in November and we created some lovely images together. The day was overcast - perfect for some nice moody images!

They are so looking forward to their wedding at Langley Castle - and I'm very much looking forward to being a part of their great celebrations. I hope you enjoy a few of the photographs ... and I must also remember to post a photograph of their fantastic wedding invitation!

NICOLA AND JONATHAN'S FANTASTIC WEDDING IN DURHAM

My clients often say to me after I praise their wedding day: "I bet you say that to all the brides!....", and in truth I usually do - but that's because we are so well matched as photographer and bride and groom.

They have a great wedding celebration with their closest family and friends and I have a great time photographing all the fun and happiness - and sometimes tears ....

Nicola and Jonathan's wedding was a little bit different to many that I photograph. They decided to get married at the church where Nicola's Mu
m and Dad were married in Lanchester, County Durham and have their reception at Van Mildert College in Durham where they had met each other while at University .... aahhhh.

The day worked out great, it rained at the right times (when we were inside) and stopped when we wanted to catch some daylight without getting wet.

Nic and Jon spent some time at Prebends Bridge in Durham which was a special place to them, and it featured in my pre-wedding portrait photography session with them too.

It's never easy to get a clean shot of the bridge without tourists or students on, but with a little bit of persuasion and 'coaxing' and a touch of luck, I managed to get some lovely images of them on the bridge and walking (very gingerly on the wet coblestones) down to the bridge too.

I loved this wedding (as I love all my weddings .... ) and it was great to be with such a great couple and their lovely families in Durham for the day.

I hope you enjoy some of the images I created.

BANNATYNE HOTEL DARLINGTON WEDDING REVIEW FROM COLIN AND TRACY

.. AND THE BAND PLAYS OUTSIDE BANNATYNE HOTEL IN DARLINGTON FOR TRACY'S WEDDING

A LITTLE BIT OF CHEESE .. CONFETTI SHOT AT BANNATYNE HOTEL ON GRANGE ROAD DARLINGTON - IDEAL FOR A SMALL INTIMATE WEDDING

SMILES ALL ROUND FOR TRACY AND COLIN AFTER THEIR WEDDING AT BANNATYNES HOTEL DARLINGTON
Tracey and Colin have kindly offered a review from their wedding celebrations at Hotel Bannatyne in Darlington ... it was a great day at a unique small wedding venue.
Colin is a chef at the great Krimo's Restaurant in Hartlepool - so he wanted a wedding venue where he and Tracy would also be impressed with the quality of the food too!
" ...Colin and I didnt want the traditional awkward posing cheesy album, so when we came across Dirk's website we knew his style of photography was just what we were looking for!
From our first meeting we were really impressed with his style of work and total professionalism.
I dont really like having my photograph taken but Dirk eleviated all my fears when he took us out for a pre-wedding portrait session.
I would highly recommend his discreet reportage style as it creates a really relaxed atmosphere for everyone, and he still managed some relaxed, informal group photographs.
Our wedding was wonderful, a great day!
Dirk arrived at the hotel early, capturing us all preparing for the ceremony, and most of the day we were unaware of him taking photographs, he just blended in with family and friends, everyone loving his great sense of humour.
What can I say about the finished album? "Dirk you are a genius".
We only wish we could do it all again! We would highly recommend Dirk for any wedding ..... He's fab!....."
Tracey & Colin

BE BAROQUE HAND PAINTED TIGHTS MAKE AN IMPACT AT A RECENT WEDDING!!

It's not often that I'm stopped in my tracks at a wedding, but Alexander and Charlotte's wedding at Tynemouth and then on to Blackfriars Restaurant in Newcastle was a GREAT day, and I created some wonderful photographs for them to remember what a great wedding day it was with family and friends.... photographs coming soon ...
But, how about these fantastic hand painted tights? All the guests commented on them ...
One of Charlotte's best friends wore them and one of her best friends is the fashion designer Chloe Patience, one of the partners along with
Mhairi McNicol in Be Baroque a recent winner in the Scottish fashion awards.
They also do hand embroidered tights ... so whether you are a guest or the bride, these look a GREAT way to stand out in a crowd!
