BOOM ! THE DISPLAY LIGHTS UP THE NIGHT SKY FOR THE WEDDING CELEBRATIONS OF NICOLA AND CRAIG AT LANGLEY CASTLE IN NORTHUMBERLAND
Langley Castle is one of my favourite wedding venues in any season.
The history and the location of this world famous castle in the north east of England in the county of Northumberland, famed for it's many castle wedding venues such as Alnwick  Castle and Bamburgh Castle, makes this a Grade A wedding venue for you to consider.
Nicola and Craig's wedding was a lovely relaxed family affair, with most of the guests as well as the couple coming across the Pennines from the North West, and in particular the Wigan area for the weekend wedding celebrations.
Nicola and Craig came across Langley castle by accident when they were in the general area with their close friends and children, as they gather somewhere every year. As soon as they saw Langley Castle, they knew this was the place they wanted to be married.
they needed a wedding photographer who was familiar with the place too, and someone they could have confidence and trust in as they organised their wedding celebrations from afar, and signed me up almost 2 years before their date.

We kept in touch by email and Facebook, and I shipped some previous wedding books from Langley Castle weddings to them so they could experience a full day of wedding photography at Langley Castle as a wedding venue and we met face-to-face for the first time just a week or so before the wedding when they were finishing off their preparations. We shared some tea and cake in a local hotel, and I met Nicola's Mum too, so we were not strangers anymore and we were ready for the day!
I arrived good an early at Langley Castle as ever, rain was threatening, but all was nice and sunny and the castle, as ever looked stunning.

Nicola and her daughters were getting ready in the bridal suite which had been extended and decorated quite considerably in a recent refurbishment - the girls were a bundle of fun all day!
Nicola was wearing a battle scar of a bruise across the bridge of her nose when there was 'an accident' with an iPad and the girls ....  more make-up required.
The ladies at Saks in Hexham had done a sterling job with everyone's hair when they had headed out early in the morning into the famous market town, and while I was wandering about the castle on my way to meet with Craig, I bumped into Nicola's brother who was to take the roll of his father in walking Nicola down the aisle .. he was a little nervous about his speech too, but he absolutely nailed each part of those concerns, no problem at all later in the day.
Craig is about the most laid-back fella you could meet, nothing is a problem, nothing appears to worry him and he was watching golf on the television to relax as he waited for his father and best men to turn up and get dressed.

It was nice to catch up with the registrars and staff at Langley Castle, nothing is ever too much and they all work as such a good team together for their clients, as I do too.
Guests had arrived, it was time to get married.
Craig was in place, and it was rather hot in the ceremony room with all those bodies, but the huge door opened and fresh air and light from outside (where the sun was still shining) flooded into the room the herald the arrival of the delightful bridesmaid sisters and flower girl, with Nicola and her brother following shortly behind - there were huge smiles all round as Craig caught sight of his daughters and his bride to be.

Soon it was all over, kisses were to be had and we were outside in the sunshine to the sound of applause as they had walked down the aisle.
It did look a little like rain by then, so I dashed upstairs to the bridal suite (I like the higher angle) and took a quick group shot of everyone as they enjoyed their champagne and canapes. There were lots of photographs of kisses and cuddles and backslaps and handshakes as guests and nicola and Craig started to enjoy their day of celebration - and later I took the family aside for 15 minutes to complete the important record shots of family for them - with a smile and a joke and a relaxed atmosphere.
The wedding breakfast had AMAZING food as ever at Langley Castle (thanks folks for including me with your guests!) and the speeches afterwards were worth waiting for. The best men did the best job, and Nicola's brother brought the house down when he put on his fathers fishing jacket over his suit, so everyone could feel that he was there with Nicola at that moment ....  tears all round, including from me!
I knew by then that Craig had had a lifelong passion for fireworks since he was a child, and that a firework display was booked for 10pm when it was almost dark. In the meantime I had a chance to go in the service lift with the bride and groom and get some photographs at the top of Langley Castle. The rain had stopped by then and so I took some nice portraits of the happy couple before we headed back into have the first dance as the string quartet has amazingly transformed into a band - such musical skills!
Finally, we trooped out for the fireworks with Craig in a state of high excitement - and he wasn't disappointed  with an amazing firework display above the ramparts of Langley Castle - a wonderful place to get married in Northumberland

I hope you enjoy my Sneak Peek images from the day, some 40 images or so from the 350+ final edited images which document a lovely day of celebration with their closest family and friends.
